Description
The Victorian State Schools Spectacular is back at John Cain Arena on Saturday 29 August 2026, bringing together more than 2,500 Victorian government school students for one of Australia's largest youth performing arts events.
This year's production, This Is Me, celebrates creativity, confidence and self-expression through an exciting showcase of music, dance, theatre and circus performance. With two performances at 1 pm and 6:30 pm, audiences can experience an unforgettable celebration of young talent.
Featuring more than 40 musical numbers, the show includes songs by Lady Gaga, Led Zeppelin, Tina Turner, Simon & Garfunkel, Jamiroquai and Creedence Clearwater Revival, as well as favourites from The Greatest Showman.
The production features an 80-piece student orchestra, 30 featured vocalists and dancers, a 1,000-voice choir, mass dance performances, stunning costumes, immersive visual effects and spectacular aerial acts including trapeze and aerial silks.
One of the highlights is a powerful First Nations performance led by Na Djinang Circus alongside the award-winning Pese Mai Choir, with songs performed in multiple Indigenous languages. The production also showcases students from the Victorian College for the Deaf, Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and the Rowville Institute of the Arts.
More than just a live performance, the Victorian State Schools Spectacular gives students the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals while developing skills in performance, production, stage management, lighting, sound and costume design.
