Bunjil Place

Description

Bunjil Place is a one-of-a-kind cultural hub in Narre Warren, offering a unique mix of creativity, entertainment, and community connection. With stunning architecture inspired by Bunjil, the Creator Spirit from First Nations cultures, the venue features an outdoor plaza, theatre, multipurpose studio, gallery, library, and function spaces. Its soaring roof represents Bunjil’s outstretched wings, while the intricate timber gridshell in the foyer reflects the eagle’s legs.

Located within a major metropolitan activity centre, Bunjil Place is easily accessible via public transport, has ample parking, and is close to shops and recreational spaces. It’s a space where young people can explore the arts, develop new skills, and get involved in projects that inspire and empower.

There’s a vibrant calendar of programs specifically tailored for young people aged 12–25. Regular creative workshops include filmmaking, DJ and music production, songwriting, theatre improv, dance, and visual arts. Wednesday Night Workshops and the Teen Art Club provide regular opportunities for teens to connect and create in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Bunjil Place is also home to Arts Agitators, a flagship youth engagement program for creatives aged 15–25. This peer-led initiative supports young artists working across multiple disciplines — from painting and poetry to music and acting — to collaborate, upskill, and lead arts projects for the wider community. It’s an incredible opportunity for youth to gain experience, make connections, and have a voice in local arts.

Each year, Bunjil Place also hosts Emergent. This high-energy event celebrates the talents of VCE and VET Dance, Music and Performing Arts students, giving them a professional platform to perform and connect with audiences.

For schools, Bunjil Place offers tailored education programs and teacher resources that align with curriculum outcomes. These include tours, workshops, and creative learning opportunities for secondary students.
