A lively, inclusive summer event for LGBTIQA+ young people, rainbow families and allies, combining swimming, music and community celebration. LGBTIQA+ YOUTH HISTORY WORKSHOP

A free workshop for LGBTIQA+ people aged 16–25 exploring what life was like for queer young people in the past. Through storytelling, craft activities and archival materials, participants reflect on change, continuity and queer history, while contributing to a national research project.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: MIDSUMMA YOUTH PARTY

Minus18’s Night at the Museum returns for Midsumma with a free, after-dark takeover of the Immigration Museum — created especially for queer young people. This high-energy night includes live music, drag performances, snacks, creative activities, and the chance to meet new people, plus exclusive after-hours access to the museum exhibitions. It’s a welcoming, fun and well-supported space designed for young people to celebrate Midsumma together. This event is free and strictly for ages 12–19.

QUEER WESTSIDE STUDIOS SESSION

This special Midsumma Festival edition of Westside Open Studios opens the doors of a local music studio to LGBTIQA+ young people aged 15–24. It’s a welcoming, low-pressure space to create, connect and spend time with others who share a love of music and self-expression.

Young people are invited to jump on the mic to sing, rap or perform spoken word, jam with others (bring an instrument or just join in), and perform for peers in a supportive, no-judgment environment. You can also simply hang out, catch a set, enjoy the music and meet new people.

STAND OUT EXHIBITION

Stand Out is an exhibition by Hobsons Bay based artist Tara Mathews, featuring bold colours and a distinctive visual style. The exhibition is dedicated to queer women and gender-diverse people who have experienced the feeling of not quite fitting in.
