I’ve always been a fan of AC/DC, but seeing them live for the first time at the MCG on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, was an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, you could feel the energy and realise you were witnessing something truly special.

The AC/DC POWER UP Tour marked their first Australian shows in over a decade. The tour kicked off in Europe in 2024, selling over 2 million tickets across 24 shows, followed by 10 sold-out shows in North America. After additional European dates, Melbourne was treated to the long-awaited return of the rock legends.
Australian rock band Amyl and the Sniffers opened the show, setting the stage for an epic night. AC/DC’s lineup featured: Angus Young – lead guitar, Brian Johnson – vocals, Stevie Young – rhythm guitar, Matt Laug – drums and Chris Chaney – bass.

AC/DC Fever in Melbourne
The city was buzzing with AC/DC excitement all week. AC/DC Lane got a new fluorescent sign, celebrating the band’s legacy. On Wednesday afternoon, 374 bagpipers gathered at Federation Square to play “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll),” setting a new world record just steps from where Bon Scott famously performed it on a flatbed truck 50 years ago.

Legendary Performances by Brian Johnson and Angus Young
At 78 years old, Brian Johnson delivered an incredible performance. While he can’t hit the high notes as he did in the 1980s, his energy, cheeky grin, and passion for performing made every song feel electric.
And Angus Young, at 70, still rocking his schoolboy outfit, proved why he’s one of the greatest guitarists of all time. His 20-minute guitar solo showcased unmatched skill and stamina, as he ran around the stage and ignited the crowd with classic riffs.
Melbourne MCG
The atmosphere at the MCG was electric. Fans of all ages sang along to every anthem, from high-voltage classics to surprise deep cuts. AC/DC reminded us why they are one of rock music’s most enduring and beloved bands.
Whether you have seen them before or it’s your first time, the AC/DC POWER UP Tour in Melbourne 2025 is a must-see for any rock fan.
